Last night I mentioned the White House Correspondent's annual dinner event, and it's odd guest list. Well, it turned out to be a less funny event than I've seen in the past, but President Bush's "speech" was pretty funny, so I thought I'd share the video.

Steve Bridges who makes a living by getting made up to look like the President, and impersonating him at various events and on television, stood next to the President, at his own podium and sort of played the role of the president's "brain" or "conscience". Basically when he spoke, it is supposedly what the President is really thinking, but then the real President Bush would speak and it would be much friendlier to the audience and his words would be screwed up, etc. Definitely worth a watch.

[NOTE FROM RIGHTWINGED.COM: Due to high site traffic, I've taken the direct video off of my site, and am now embedding version I found on iFilm.

I think my favorite line was:

... continue to spread our agenda globally, and around the world, as well as internationally

Stephen Colbert totally bombed during his portion of the show. And I don't just say that as a conservative who didn't like jokes at the President's expense. In fact I love jokes about his "Bushisms" and when cleverly written, even some jokes about policy can be funny to.

Colbert's performance was just extremely weak, and as I said he totally bombed. I don't base this on my reaction to the jokes... I base it on the dead silence for roughly 90% of his monologue, in a room full of liberals. Setting aside the fact that he had hardly any funny jokes, he also did go a little too far in his "jokes" in trashing the President who was seated only a few feet away. It just got worse and worse. The funniest part was probably when he pointed out Plame and Wilson (again, huh?) in the audience and then faked concern for "outting" her.

Anyway, I was shocked at Colbert's performance. Usually the guest entertainer is the best part, but I just can't believe how unbelievably bad he was, when he's usually pretty funny. I may dig through and find the one or two funny (or maybe just odd) moments later if folks express any interest, but it would be total waste to post the entire thing because it was just that bad.

Editor & Publisher has more on Colbert's performance, noting the President's obvious displeasure (not that visible on C-SPAN). While E&P provides a quick rundown of Colbert's material, it fails to mention how painfully unfunny it was.

***UPDATE***
(Should've known) Hot Air also has highlights from the Bush segment and the Colbert segment. If you are interested in seeing if my review is on point or not, check it out... but remember - I warned you. Do remember though, that these are only a few highlights. You'd have to see the entire thing to understand how truly terrible it was. Hot Air anticipates C-SPAN posting the video on their site, and then you'd be able to check out the entire thing.

April 24, 2006

Michelle Malkin and some of her blogger pals have launched Hot Air, a conservative internet broadcast network, intended to bring some balance to the internet broadcast world that is currently dominated by liberals. Check out Malkin's Hot Air post on her own blog for details.

Be sure to check out the debut episode of "Vent with Michelle Malkin", Hot Air's daily newscast. Today's episode is about the tech world's friendship with human rights violator, communist China and the jailing of Chinese dissidents for internet blog posts.

I expect that this will be a great new resource for folks who want to get their news without the usual MSM and liberal spin, and get informed about stories they might not otherwise hear about. My guess is a lot of people will like the ability to watch/listen to what Michelle Malkin and others blog about, without actually having to slow down long enough to read. We all know how much of a task that can be.

Good luck to Michelle and all of her Hot Air recruits.

(For more information, check out the official press release here)

UPDATE
I've noticed that the site has been up and down so far. My guess is this is either due to massive traffic, or liberal hack jobs, because Michelle's own site has been up and down a couple times as well.

Expose the Left informs us that Michelle's co-captains are Allahpundit and Bryan Preston of Junkyard Blog. I noticed that Michelle mentioned that Allahpundit had contributed already, and assumed Byran Preston was probably involved but wasn't sure. You're probably familiar with Byran Preston's work at the Junkyard Blog, but you may not be familiar with Allahpundit. I'm not even that familiar, but I know he's been a hilarious guest blogger at Michelle Malkin's blog, and always makes for an interesting read. My guess is that his creativity will be a vital part of this new project.

***UPDATE***
Tom Delay calls McKinney a racist
I meant to mention this earlier, but Tom Delay was on Fox & Friends by phone, a while after McKinney and said:

Cynthia McKinney is a racist. She has a long history of racism. Everything is racism with her. This is incredible arrogance, and—that sometimes hits these members of congress, but especially Cynthia McKinney

I wasn't able to capture the video, but Expose the Left did. Michelle Malkin takes note as well.

Also today, Capitol Police Chief Terrance Gainer blasted McKinney's racism accusations.

***END UPDATE***

As I was finishing my previous posts, Congresswoman McKinney appeared on Fox & Friends in an interview conducted by Brian Kilmeade. Catch up on all things Crazy McKinney here, and then watch the video of the interview below.

You might notice that the video seems to skip a couple times, but that's just because my capture device is weird and I had hit the record manually a couple times, so a second or two here and there are cut out, but nothing big considering it was just one big filibuster festival anyway. I also downgraded the quality for quicker downloads.

Watch McKinney dodge the opportunity to explain the incident that started all of this. Even better is when Kilmeade asks her if it's true that Nancy Pelosi and her aren't on speaking terms. McKinney's lawyer, who was on the phone, tries to answer for her, saying that's "totally incorrect". Kilmeade tells him that he wasn't asking him, and asks McKinney again for an answer, to which she says "You already had a response". He presses for her response, but doesn't get one. Why is it so hard to say "I am on speaking terms with Nancy Pelosi"?

February 28, 2006

Hopefully this will be my last post on the subject, but there has been even more media distortion on the Neo-Nazi rally in Orlando this weekend. If you're not caught up yet, see my earlier posts here and here. This time the culprits were Hannity & Colmes and O'Reilly. In their defense, I'm sure they were just reading the information as it was handed to them while the file footage rolled, but they should have done the background reading of the actual story before reporting it. Check out the Hannity & Colmes clip here:

DOWNLOAD: WMV

I caught the late re-airing of Hannity & Colmes on FNC and was surprised to see a brief segment at the very end of the show (less than a minute long) in which Hannity reports the Orlando Neo-Nazi event with the slant that the liberal media has been reporting it, only he went a step further and at the end says:

"Fourteen of those arrested were from out of town skinhead or Neo-Nazi groups...."

But as you might recall from my first post on this, the Sun Sentinal reported (as did most other articles if you dug past the misleading headlines, opening paragraphs, and photo captions) that NO neo-Nazis were arrested, and only the "counter-protestors" got violent and were arrested.

Seventeen people were arrested Saturday, including 14 members of out-of-town groups such as the Skinheads Against Racial Prejudice and the Southeastern Anarchist Network, said Orlando Police spokeswoman Barb Jones.

So why did Hannity get it so wrong? I suspect that sense this wasn't an actual "segment" but a less than a minute long, brief mention at the end of the show, that he read a quick summary that was based on the reporting that was out there about the incident, and as I've shown you, almost all reporting was misleading to some degree. Obviously he doesn't have a liberal agenda pushing him to cover up the antics of the far lefties whoe WERE actually arrested, so I think he just didn't do the research (he should have known better, his fault) before reporting the story the way the rest of the media did, and then assuming that those skinheads were actaully neo-nazis, rather than the counter-protestors that they actually were and adding in a factually inaccurate line.

Same goes for O'Reilly, though I didn't get the video. I'm not sure, but I don't think O'Reilly went as far as Hannity but he did misleadingly report the way all the others have by showing footage of a fight and talking about a Neo-Nazi rally turning violent, etc. etc. despite the fact, again, no Neo-Nazis were involved in the violence and none were arrested.

One more time, I'm not supporting the Neo-Nazis, but they certainly had the right to have their event. They are a couple dozen idiots who should just be ignored. I just can't let the misleading slide and not report the media distortion of these events, trying to lay blame on the Nazis (stupid as they are, they were peaceful), when it was the opposition who continues to take part in violent and criminal behavior. I just couldn't stand to see this continue after the FLAT OUT LIES of the AP and ABC (who refuses to take down their proven lie of a story).

February 15, 2006

Okay, if somehow you missed the story of the soon to be released Saddam tapes, I've got the whole low down here.

Anyway, it's kind of late now considering Nightline will be on soon, but I did get video of the preview that was on ABC World News Tonight earlier. Only because of my ghetto video capture thing it cut out for 2-5 seconds three quick times. You don't miss much, but you'll notice what seems like a CD skipping or something. But that's all it is.

DOWNLOAD: WMV

Anyway, we'll have to see what more comes of the Nightline special, and then when the rest of the press gets hold of the tapes when they are released this weekend. At least Fox News will cover it I'm sure, but I don't know about the rest.

SCROLL FOR UPDATES

RightWinged.com's investigative reporter in the field has uncovered these secret photos of the Vice President Cheney hunting accident, in which he mistakenly shot his partner Harry Whittington. He just emailed them to me for a rush to the web and I've quickly thrown them in to a video made with Windows Movie Maker for your ease of viewing (make sure your volume is on.)

By the way, the unhinged White House press group is flipping out and jumping all over McClellan on this right now. David Gregory is as rude as always.

Fark apparently had a contest for similar images to what I used in this video, in the same week. Too bad I missed it though

Expose The Left is posting on this too.

After getting dealt some serious blows in recent years, terrorists have apparently changed their tactics a bit. Maybe I'm just imagining things though. I came home late last night, flipped on the ol' VCR to catch up on some Nick at Nite and well... I've spliced together a couple of freeze frames with some things that seemed weird. Is it just me, or is something a little off in all of these?

February 10, 2006

I created this video a few days ago but hadn't gotten around to posting it until now. I was playing around with Windows Movie Maker (my second attempt) and came up with what I believe is a hilarious little movie.

Watch it all the way through (only about two and a half minutes long.) There are at least a couple surprises in there that I guarantee will at least make you smirk... I think probably even if you're a lefty.

Download: WMV

What did ya think? Feel free to leave me comments on this, although I suspect I'll get a lot of "you should have included ______". I have thought of others I could have included, and if I get a suggestion I really like, I may add them. But I'm pretty pleased with it for now, especially for only being my second project with Windows Movie Maker.

UPDATE: Special thanks to Ian at Expose The Left for sending some traffic my way on this one. If you got here another way, and aren't familiar, be sure to make his site a daily read/watch (best video blogger around.)

Stop The ACLU has open trackbacks for you to use and abuse.

February 05, 2006

Alright, I'll keep this brief because I'm about to crash... but Michelle Malkin inspired me to try my Windows Movie Maker, after this post yesterday. I had seen the program on my new PC and notebook when I got them a few months ago, but never really tried to figure it out. So now I did, and created a little something you might enjoy (or hate.)

Remember how mad the left gets when we point out how their party leaders make almost identical statements to Osama Bin Laden? Remember how mad they go at Joe Scarborough and Tucker Carlson for discussing this (Expose The Left has the video.) The libs went nuts over this, even though it wasn't like the greater MSM was covering this angle. However the libs didn't make a peep when the Washington post was lying about Pat Robertsons statements about Ariel Sharon, and dishonestly calling him and Ahmadinejad a "duo" for their statements, even though they were nothing alike and certainly not as close as many Dems' statements have been to Bin Laden's.

I talked about this at length in previous posts:

Washington Post Equates Pat Robertson and Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad
UPDATE: Why weren't Kerry and Bin Laden a "duo"?

Anyway, all of this is really only scratching the surface. The research it would take to really cover all of this, and branch out from Kerry would take way to long. But here's a little something I threw together for you:

SOTU Highlight Clip 9: America Is Addicted To Oil

I just had to have this clip. The Democrats hate this because they love to tell you that Bush is this big oil man bent on world domination and holding us hostage with oil. They thought they had a monopoly on alternative energy sources (even though mostly all they do is talk anyway).

Download: WMV

SOTU Highlight Clip 10: Human Life Is A Gift

Here again we see a group of less than enthusiastic Democrats when the President says: Human life is a gift from our Creator -- and that gift should never be discarded, devalued or put up for sale. A handful eventually stand to try to tow the line without upsetting the base.

SOTU Highlight Clip 8: McCain Get's A Little Crazy

I just thought this clip was funny. I'm not quite sure what McCain got so overly excited about here, but it was funny. Particularly when the President looks like he's trying not to laugh as he finishes the statement. Watch his forehead. Priceless.

SOTU Video Highlights Post 5: "America Is Addicted To Oil" & "Human Life Is A

SOTU Highlight Clip 5: "Not By Politicians In Washington D.C."

President Bush: The road of victory is the road that will take our troops home. As we make progress on the ground, and Iraqi forces increasingly take the lead, we should be able to further decrease our troop levels -- but those decisions will be made by our military commanders, not by politicians in Washington, D.C.

Judging by the Democrats reaction to The President's statement in this clip, we can infer that they DO want politicians making the decisions, rather than commanders on the ground.

Download: WMV

SOTU Highlight Clip 6: Second Guessing Is Not A Strategy

The President basically calls the Dems out on their defeatism and second guessing in this clip. After that he goes on to speak about supporting the military. You can see the Dems reluctantly stand up, and can almost hear them saying to themselves "okay, politically we have to stand up here.. but let's not be really enthusiastic or we'll upset our base... We'll rise slow and late, and unenthusiastically clap for supporting the military." (Keep in mind, this was after a good chunk of time where they'd already been pouting little babies refusing to applaud anything, even thought it was almost all nonpartisan stuff, simply because they hate the President)

SOTU Video Highlights Post 5: "America Is Addicted To Oil" & "Human Life Is A

SOTU Highlight Clip 3: Their Day Will Come

I just really like the line at the end of this clip that reminded me of the old tough talkin' days of PResident Bush: "We remain on the offensive against terror networks. We have killed or captured many of their leaders -- and for the others, their day will come."

Download: WMV

SOTU Highlight Clip 4: In This Fight To Win, And We Are Winning (but not the Dems)

Another great line delivered in this clip: Fellow citizens, we are in this fight to win, and we are winning. Only the Dems obviously don't agree (watch applause). Well, I guess their party chairman Howard Dean already laid out their position on that a while ago, huh?

As promised a couple nights ago, I have some highlights from President Bush's State of the Union speech. Others, like Expose the Left have the whole video posted, but hope you can use these smaller highlight clips as a reference. I have 10 clips I'd like to share, and I'll provide them 2 per post.

SOTU Highlight Clip 1: What is Rangel Saying? & Smug Kerry.

Here, during the applause after the President said "we will never surrender to evil", we see Rangel not standing up but rocking back and forth, saying something I can only assume is negative.... or maybe he's saying "Yes we will surrender", because that is his plan? Then we briefly see Kerry with what appears to be a smug little mocking grin... or perhaps that's the painful look he gets when he wishes that was him giving the speech, and he's trying to hold back the tears.

Download: WMV

SOTU Highlight Clip 2: We're Proud To Be Allies With Iraq. Well, Almost All

Here after the President speaks about progress of the Iraqis, he says we're proud to be their allies. Only when we see the Dems, other than Harold Ford Jr. and Joe Lieberman, they don't seem so proud to be allies with the Iraqis.
