***UPDATE***
Miuchelle Malkin has a new post up with all you need to know about this preacher of the religion of peace shooter, right down to his high school year book photo. Not surprisingly, the "history of mental illness" card has already been pulled. Since when is Islam something you can excuse as "mental illness"?

I wouldn't even know where to begin, and would be stepping on the toes of other bloggers if I was to comment on this, sense folks like Michelle Malkin, Allahpundit, and Gateway Pundit have been live blogging this and are so far out ahead, I could never catch up.

The story seems to be changing by the minute, but what I gather is that between 6 and 7 women were shot, one fatally and leaving 3 in critical condiation, at a Jewish Federation building in Seattle by a Pakistani man, apparently because he's angry that Israel is defending itself from terrorists on the other side of the globe.

Again, the story is fluid and nothing is set in stone at this point, but from the numerous reports that you can read quoted on those blogs and the stories they link to, it is quite clear that this is a Muslim who was out to kill Jews.

When I first began reading about this breaking story at Michelle Malkin's blog, my first thought was 'I bet no mainstream media outlet will have the balls to state the obvious, that this guy is a terrorist', and partly through Malkin's post I realize I'm not alone in assuming the worst of our media. Only as she points out, the FBI is just as bad (Seattle Post-Intelligencer):

"We believe ... it's a lone individual acting out his antagonism," said David Gomez, an FBI assistant special agent in charge of counterterrorism in Seattle.
Gutt said the FBI is helping Seattle police assess whether the gunman was a "lone wolf" or part of a wider plan. If evidence of a terrorist plot evolved, the FBI would become the lead agency, but as of Friday night the case remained Seattle's, Gutt said.

Authorities did not release any details about the alleged gunman and would not discuss possible motives.

"There's nothing to indicate that it's terrorism-related," Gomez said. "But we're monitoring the entire situation."

Nothing to indicate it's terrorism-related!? How about the fact that a Pakistani Muslim just shot up a bunch of Jews, and we have this from witnesses:

"He said, 'I am a Muslim American, angry at Israel,' before opening fire on everyone," said Marla Meislin-Dietrich, a database coordinator for the center. "He was randomly shooting at everyone."

Excuse me Gomez, but just wtf is terrorism? Is there a certain death count required? Does it only count if you can confirm that he shouted "Allah-hu-akbar" while committing his acts of violence. Please define "terrorism" to me, I'm on the edge of my seat!

Anyway, that's out of my system, but like I said, other than that I'm too far behind to catch up with other bloggers on this story, so check out Michelle Malkin, Allahpundit, and Gateway Pundit to get constantly updating coverage.

It seems that another top Al Qaeda figure has been taken out by Pakistani security forces. I'm still not sure how to categorize Pakistan, in terms of their relationship to the United States, but I don't think you can ignore the big kills they've gotten and tips they've provided over these past couple years.

Financial Times

Pakistani security forces yesterday shot dead a militant whom officials named as an al-Qaeda member wanted by the US and previously thought to have been killed months ago in a US air strike.

Officials, speaking on condition of anonymity, named the dead man as Abu Marwan al-Suri, head of al-Qaeda's operations in Pakistan's Waziristan tribal region. Mr Suri had previously been reported killed along with a handful of al-Qaeda operatives in the air strike in January.

At least seven Pakistani military troops were killed and more than 20 injured yesterday when militants ambushed a convoy near Miranshah, a border town in north Waziristan, a remote north-west region.

The AP is reporting that he may be a close associate of al-Zawahiri. This is actually what I heard during headlines on Fox News, and caused me to look up the story.

ISLAMABAD, Pakistan (AP) - A foreign militant killed in a shootout in northwestern Pakistan was believed to have been a close associate of al-Qaida No. 2 leader Ayman al-Zawahri, two intelligence officials said Friday. The man, suspected to be a Saudi known among militants as Abu Marwan al-Suri, died Thursday in a gunfight with security officials on the outskirts of Khar, a town near the Bajur tribal region, close to the Afghan border, the intelligence officials said on condition of anonymity because they weren't authorized to speak to media.

A Pakistani security official died and two others were wounded when the militant opened fire from his vehicle after he was signaled to halt at a roadblock, said army spokesman Maj. Gen. Shaukat Sultan.

The man's body has been transported to a hospital in the city of Peshawar for identification.

"Initial information is that he is a close associate of al-Zawahri, but we don't know his exact name," one of the intelligence officials said.

The AP by way of AccessNorthGA.com reports:

ATLANTA - An Atlanta television station says the FBI is holding a Georgia Tech student accused of planning terrorist activity, but the student's family says he is innocent of wrongdoing.

The family of 21-year-old Syed Ahmed told WAGA-TV that he was arrested a few weeks ago, but details of the case have not been made public.

The station says the U.S. Marshal's Office confirms Ahmed is in custody but was told the case is sealed.

The electrical engineering student's sister, Fica, told WAGA that agents came to their Dawsonville home, stayed for almost three hours and confiscated compact discs from her brother's room, and copied his computer hard drive.

Ahmed's mother, Samia, said he did visit Pakistan in 2005 for a month, but for Islamic study.

She said she has visited her son twice since his arrest and talked to him through a glass window.

The family says they are working with an attorney to try and get more details.

UPDATE
Michelle Malkin now has a post on this as well.

The Muslim "protestors" who claim to be upset over the Mohammad cartoons have now turned their anger on fast food, burning down a McDonald's and a KFC.... oh yeah, they killed and injured a bunch of people to. Michelle Malkin's got the story. She's got it covered pretty well, I just thought I'd try to be first with the "extra crispy" line.

Michelle is right though, where's the media... Oh that's right coming unhinged on Scott McClellan over Quailgate. Although there has been in the last few hours a sad development for the Harry Whittington, the 78 year old victim of the accident.

The 78-year-old lawyer who was shot by Vice President Dick Cheney in a hunting accident has some birdshot lodged in his heart and he had a "a minor heart attack" Tuesday morning, hospital officials said.

Pray that he gets better. Not only for him and his family, but sadly (and shockingly to me) this has become a huge political issue. I'm surprised (though I rarely am) at the viciousness of the media over this. I still think the Democratic politicians will keep their mouths shut though... Except maybe Dean. So it's sad to say, that we have to politically hope for him to pull through. Imagine the media and political fallout if the worst is to happen?

ABC News is reporting that we may get a second terror tape release, this one by al-Zawahiri.:

Jan. 20, 2006 — Security is being stepped up across the country today after the release of a new audiotape in which Osama bin Laden threatens to attack the U.S. homeland — though the government is not elevating the national alert level.

The new security measures are being taken as ABC News learns that al Qaeda Web sites have posted messages saying yet another tape is about to be released — this one from al Qaeda's No. 2 man, Ayman al-Zawahiri, who apparently escaped a missile attack that targeted him in Pakistan a week ago. The Web sites say he will mourn his colleagues who were killed in that attack.

And incase you didn't catch Scott McClellan's reaction to the UBL tape yesterday:

White House spokesman Scott McClellan said it was a sign of weakness.

"We do not negotiate with terrorists," McClellan said. "We put them out of business."

That's a classic line. I'd like to hear more statements like this from the White House.

hat tip: Michelle Malkin

You might remember that the blogosphere ripped apart the NY Times a few days ago, for clearly staging a photo for maximum heartstring pulling impact, or at the very least, stupidly running with a photo with a false caption because it suited their agenda. Either way, it was unacceptable. At least they apologized, but at some point they should just start getting it right instead of having to apologize....

Fast forward to today >> We are still not sure if we got Al Qaeda number 2 al-Zawahiri, but it's being reported that we did make an Al Qaeda Kebab... or is it Khabab? As in Abu Khabab al-Masri, also known as Midhat Mursi al-Sayid Umar.
Fox News:

The U.S. Justice Department names Midhat Mursi al-Sayid Umar, also known as Abu Khabab al-Masri, as an explosives expert and poisons trainer who operated a terrorist training camp at Derunta, near the eastern city of Jalalabad in Afghanistan.

In addition, it's looking like we got two other high level Qaeda targets, including one Abu Ubaida, who may or may not be a close relative, even a son-in-law, of Al-Zawahiri.

So to be clear, the NY Times and the Kos kids and the rest all wanted us to believe that we just sloppily killed some innocent families, but as he facts come in, it seems more and more like we went after and got the bad guys, and the verdit is still out on Zawahiri in particular.
