The Dean's List - Howard Dean Quotes

The Dean's List

The Dean's List is an ongoing documentation of the, seemingly daily, ridiculousness that comes out of the mouth of the Democratic Party Chairman, Howard Dean.  Please feel free to contact me at randy at rightwinged dot com with other quotes you think should make The Dean's List.  I know there are plenty more, so by all means send them along.  Anyway, since most of what this guy says is unbelievable, I've linked the quotes to sources for anyone who needs proof that he really said these things.  Also, you can find brief comments by me below each quote.

This one is a two part entry.  One of my favorites.

“I still have this old-fashioned notion that even with people like Osama, who is very likely to be found guilty, we should do our best not to, in positions of executive power, not to prejudge jury trials,”

Yeah he would "likely" be found guilty Dean... those are tough words for the world's terror mascot.

"Tom DeLay ought to go back to Houston where he can serve his jail sentence."

So for the record folks, the Democratic Party Chairman would like a fair trial for the "likely" to be found guilty Bin Laden, but months before the politically motivated charges (already partially dropped) against Tom Delay had been brought, Dean had already sentenced him?  Am I reading those right?  Fair trial for world's most notorious terrorist, but straight to jail for a congressman who it seems moved some thousands of dollars around before there was a law against it?

Believe it or not, these are actual quotes...

"I hate Republicans and everything they stand for."

Ladies and gentlemen, the always civil and graceful Howard Dean.  Can you imagine the backlash if Ken Mehlman said this, or any leading Republican?

"From a religious point of view, if God had thought homosexuality is a sin, he would not have created gay people."

What?  Not to compare the two, but "...if God had thought murder is a sin, he would not have created murderers..." Is this guy really that dumb?  People who believe homosexuality is a sin don't believe God created them gay, so his comment is just beyond stupid and makes no sense.

"I'm in full combat mode"

...riiiiiiiiiight.

"I still want to be the candidate for guys with Confederate flags in their pickup trucks,"

(Rightwinged.com scratches head..... furrows brow..... eats a Kroger brand "Chip Mate", Chips Ahoy rip-off cookie, and moves on to next quote)

"You know, to listen to Senator Lieberman, Senator Kerry, Representative Gephardt, I'm anti-Israel, I'm anti-trade, I'm anti-Medicare and I'm anti-Social Security. I wonder how I ended up in the Democratic Party."

Huh?

"The idea that we're going to win the war in Iraq is an idea which is just plain wrong."

I don't think I can say any more about this already famous Dean quote.

"We won't always have the strongest military."

Why again isn't he our Commander in Chief?  Which reminds me, will the Dems run him as their 2008 candidate... please?

"The Democratic Party, all the candidates from Washington, they all know each other, they all move in the same circles, and what I'm doing is breaking into the country club."

Remarking on the party he now chairs... classic.  By the way, it was interesting that he said "breaking into the country club";, because his 17 year old son got busted "breaking in to the Burlington Country Club

“Look, I’m not a perfect person. I have my warts. I sometimes say things that get me in trouble. I wear suits that are cheap. But I say what I think and I believe what I say, and I’m willing to say things that are not be popular but ordinary people know are right. In other words, I lead with my heart and not my head. That’s the only chance we have against George Bush.”

... And it worked brilliantly.  Yup "ordinary people" are all about Howard Dean, which is why he won the.... oh wait.

Republicans are "a pretty monolithic party. They all behave the same. They all look the same. It's pretty much a white Christian party."

This is another one that just makes you say "Did the Democratic Party leader really say something so stupid?"  Anyway, being born and raised (although not currently residing) in Vermont I can tell you it ain't only the snow that's white up there.  It's the population, 96.8% at last check, with a black population of a whopping .5%!!!  Now if anyone had any questions about former VT Gov. Howard Dean speaking on race issues, well now you know, Vermont is practically Harlem.

"I will use whatever position I have in order to root out hypocrisy. Democrats have strong moral values. Frankly, my moral values are offended by some of the things I hear on programs like "Rush Limbaugh,' and we don't have to put up with that."

That's right Howard!  You don't have to put up with that!  Free speech only applies to far left liberals like yourself.  So let's shut Rush down because he offends you.  Good thing you've never offended anyone... like for example basically saying you hate half of the country.

Here we have a great three parter in which Dean does his best Kerry Flip Flop impression...

"Someone earlier made a remark about losing 500 soldiers and 2,200 wounded in Iraq. Those soldiers were sent there by the vote of Sen. Lieberman, Sen. Edwards and Sen. Kerry. I think that is a serious matter."

He's always ridiculous, but factually accurate here.  Sadly, it would seem the only Democrat reallyy

"The fact is that we wouldn't be in Iraq if it weren't for Democrats like Senator Kerry."

Again, factually correct here...  I wonder how you'll feel after you don't win the nomination though....

"I've gotten to know John Kerry since the primaries. The reason I'm going out and working my you know what off for John Kerry is because I believe him. I believe he'll be a good president and a much better president than George Bush."

Wow!  How does "getting to know" him change what you said about him, during the primaries, playing a role in getting us in to Iraq?

"This administration is more corrupt than the Nixon administration,"

That's a little toned down for you Dean, but I'll take it.
