Don't yet have time to post on the Clinton administration and the Dem's freaking out and bullying of ABC over the 9/11 Docudrama, so while you wait, check this out:

If you can't stand to watch this without some political component, perhaps you can come up with some comment about how this is a metaphor for how liberals would like to see our government. The cat would be our government, the puppies would be the citizens (specifically the "poor") relying on the government for their survival. Too bad they aren't chihuahuas or you could go even further with it.

AllahPundit brought us this mp3 of a song by a group called Evolution Control Committe (ECC), which samples what seems like hundreds of Dan Rather soundbytes as well as AC/DC's "Back in Black". I thought, "You could make an awesome video to fit with this", but then I discovered someone already had, and it was on YouTube.

Note: There is clearly an anti-Bush administration tone throughout the video, but it's not overwhelming. Let's put it this way, I'd rather watch the video than read the NY Times. At least they they showed Clinton & Gore over the words "low ethics", but negativity towards President Bush and the administration pops up a number of times.

***UPDATE***
Today's Vent with Michelle Malkin is a round-up of all things Katrina. I agree with most of Michelle's points, however I still think Brown/FEMA take too much heat for this, because the situation wouldn't have been as unmanagable had there been compitent local and state leadership. Because they refused to issue a mandatory evacuation, and follow their own plans, FEMA was left to clean up an unimaginable mess. Note how Jeb Bush is constantly in front of the cameras and issuing evacuations days before storms approach, and he evacuated the Keys days before the current storm. More of my unpolitically correct look back at "Katrina" here.

Mwahahahahaha mwahahahaha.... mwah haha..... ha.............. ha.

Liberals better get with the baby makin' sense 8 out of 10 kids grows up and votes the way their parents do, and conservatives are pumping out 41% more children than liberals. Game over libs.

Via The Political Grapevine on Special Report with Brit Hume:

Liberal efforts to get out the youth vote are finding fewer and fewer young Democrats to entice to the polls — all because of the politics of reproduction.

Syracuse professor Arthur Brooks writes in The Wall Street Journal that conservative families are currently producing 41 percent more offspring than liberal ones. Since 80 percent of people grow up to vote the same way as their parents, that "fertility gap" is producing significantly more young Republicans than Democrats.

What's more, Brooks says the gap is widening by more than half a point per year, meaning that even liberal states like California could be decidedly conservative in a decade.

That sound you're all hearing is the sound of liberals screaming "WHAT HAVE WE DONE!?", questioning their pro-abortion stance all these years.

The best part about this is not just getting Republicans elected, but it means less drain on the economy due to overspending on welfare, etc. It means personal responsibility. It means less crime. It means less of everything that is liberal simply because liberals and their "values" (chuckle) will become a smaller and smaller percentage of the country.

***UPDATE***
I just dug up the article, and see a lot of other bloggers beat me to this yesterday.

While I think all the liberal "get out the youth vote" campaigns like MTV's "Vote or Die" fail because they're targeting a bunch of spoiled, lazy, stoner college kids (not to mention that any self respecting person over 18 watches MTV), Brooks believes that this "fertility gap" has been the liberals' worst enemy:

But the data on young Americans tell a different story. Simply put, liberals have a big baby problem: They're not having enough of them, they haven't for a long time, and their pool of potential new voters is suffering as a result. According to the 2004 General Social Survey, if you picked 100 unrelated politically liberal adults at random, you would find that they had, between them, 147 children. If you picked 100 conservatives, you would find 208 kids. That's a "fertility gap" of 41%. Given that about 80% of people with an identifiable party preference grow up to vote the same way as their parents, this gap translates into lots more little Republicans than little Democrats to vote in future elections. Over the past 30 years this gap has not been below 20%--explaining, to a large extent, the current ineffectiveness of liberal youth voter campaigns today.

Brooks goes on to give examples of what this might mean for future elections:

Alarmingly for the Democrats, the gap is widening at a bit more than half a percentage point per year, meaning that today's problem is nothing compared to what the future will most likely hold. Consider future presidential elections in a swing state (like Ohio), and assume that the current patterns in fertility continue. A state that was split 50-50 between left and right in 2004 will tilt right by 2012, 54% to 46%. By 2020, it will be certifiably right-wing, 59% to 41%. A state that is currently 55-45 in favor of liberals (like California) will be 54-46 in favor of conservatives by 2020--and all for no other reason than babies.

And while I thought I was done excerpting, I just can't leave this paragraph out:

The fertility gap doesn't budge when we correct for factors like age, income, education, sex, race--or even religion. Indeed, if a conservative and a liberal are identical in all these ways, the liberal will still be 19 percentage points more likely to be childless than the conservative. Some believe the gap reflects an authentic cultural difference between left and right in America today. As one liberal columnist in a major paper graphically put it, "Maybe the scales are tipping to the neoconservative, homogenous right in our culture simply because they tend not to give much of a damn for the ramifications of wanton breeding and environmental destruction and pious sanctimony, whereas those on the left actually seem to give a whit for the health of the planet and the dire effects of overpopulation." It would appear liberals have been quite successful controlling overpopulation--in the Democratic Party.

So it seems that liberals can't argue that the facts are wrong here, so they resort to the old pro-abortion talking points. Don't think that overpopulation line is anything but an invitation to a free baby killing party at your local planned parenthood. It's a message that the UN is very friendly with, particularly UNFPA (UN Population Fund) as well as many professors and lobby groups (scroll until you see the name Pianka, and read from there). Luckily for us the UN hopes to take control of the planet and stop all this scary "global warming" and overbreeding. Our saviors (sigh).

The Logical Lifeline further realizes why Dems are so anxious to get as many illegal immigrants in the country as possible, and then give them voting rights (liberals who might choose to comment, please don't make me dig up the links to prove that this is on the Dem agenda. If you care enough to comment, then you should care enough to already know this).

Make like Adnan Hajj and take your best photo create a crappy photoshop of the Middle East crisis and enter Jawa's "You Can Be A Reuters Stringer Too" Karnival. Here's my "photo" of Mother Sheehan surveying the damage that the warmonger George Bush did to her home in Beirut, while she prepares to set up Camp Hezbo.

As a woman who travels with this photographer to pose in front of every destroyed building in Lebanon to pretend it's her home poses for this image, her friend Cindy Sheehan makes plans for Camp Hezbollah. August 8, 2006 (Randy Al-Hajj / Reutwinged.comers)

Liberals searching for 'Bush lied people died t-shirts' are undoubtedly a little upset to find a post this blog, RIGHTWINGED.COM, as the number one search result! Suckas!

The post title, (heavy sarcasm on the "liberal compassion" part) is: Liberal Compassion: Selling "Bush Lied, They Died" T-Shirts With Soldier's Names

(Pretend to hear me doing an exaggerated evil laugh right here... Picture Dr. Evil in Austin Powers.)

Alright, I'm still not back to posting as frequently as I had been and would like to be, but I wanted to let readers know that I am still around and that I've completed my move back to my home state of Vermont. Yup, right here in the belly of the beast.

Yes, this is the same Vermont that was the first in the nation to pass "civil unions" under former Governor and everyone's favorite metal singing contestant on Washington Idol, Howard Dean.

Yes, the same Vermont that has the highest taxes per capita in the entire nation!!!

Yes, the same Vermont that is one of only 4 states not publicly disclosing their sex offender registries on sites like site we should all bookmark, FamilyWatchdog.us. Not to mention that Vermont is one of the few hold outs resisting Jessica's law, which of course is repeatedly highlighted by Bill O'Reilly after the Judge Cashman scandal. If you aren't familiar, this judge felt a just sentence for a man who raped a girl for 4 years starting when she was 6, was only 60 days in prison! Why? He didn't like the idea of "vengeance" and "retribution". Wow!

Yes, the same Vermont that can proudly say that we are home to the only elected socialist (in his own words) in the nation, Bernie Sanders! (Note: The Congressman is leaving the House and running for Senate this year. Pray that Rich Tarrant defeats him.)

Wait... why did I come back here again!? What have I done!?!?!?

Seriously though, dispite the fact that Vermont is arguably the largest moonbat cave in the country, this is still "home", and I'm glad to be back. In the future I hope to be able to cover some local moonbat rallies and capture some photos of these not so illusive creatures in their natural habitat.

Check out my town, Burlington, VT at Hazecam.net. This awesome site snaps two images of downtown, Lake Champlain, with the Adirondack Mountains of New York state in the background, every 15 minutes. You can also view high resolution versions of these images that make great desktop images.

July 01, 2006

Okay, let me start by saying that I'm really getting tired of repeating myself week after week, so just see some of my other posts on the economy for much of what I'd like to say here, and then we'll get to the fresh data. See my "economy" category here. More specifically, check out this post and this post, and pay close attention to the accompanying screen shots.

Done reading all that yet? Good. The gist is essentially that America is full of a bunch of idiots (and I'll give you the latest numbers shortly), or people who put WAAAAAAAY to much trust in the liberal media. We have consistently seen, over the past 2 or 3 years, people reating their own economic situations overwhelmingly positively, while they rate the economy negatively. Knowing that these people aren't economists, in a normal situation we'd let them slide... But how can they possibly feel they're doing okay or great, but be under the impression that the rest of the country isn't. THE MEDIA! Look, it's such a cliche I know, it's almost annoying to say. But it is the obvious conclusion that any sane person has to reach. I mean if you are happy about your own finances, but you view the American economy negatively and are no professional economist, what drives your opinion. THE MEDIA.

Now as I've noted time and time again, every couple weeks for the past few years when booming economic news comes out, the media calls it "surprising" and "unexpected", to which I always ask when they'll begin to change expectations. I've now figured out the answer. They're waiting for the inevitable cooling down so they can scream with headlines "ECONOMY SLOWS DOWN" or other clever headlines that will make you think that the economy is collapsing, without actually saying that. The fact is people have been predicting "crashes" all along, but we've just had a few slowdown blip months, which is the healthy way for the economy to stabalize. But mark my words, that won't be how it will be reported. When the slowdown really takes hold, the media will report it in chicken little fashion. This isn't up for debate, we've already seen it everytime one sector had a slow month, while the constant rolling in of booming economic news is met with headlines that get passing mention in the first couple hours they're out, and then they're buried.

Now, even when the media does report the economic news it's always with the qualifiers to make it sounds not so good. They've played this masterfully because most haven't caught on to their game, and we're finally reaching a time when we will certainly see a slowdown coming soon, so they can quickly flip to slamming the economy, and most will just see it is a continuation in reporting. Here's the latest: US economy grew at 5.6 percent pace in 1st quarter

WASHINGTON (AFP) - The US economy expanded at 5.6 percent pace in the first quarter, the government has said, revising upward its last estimate of a 5.3 percent growth rate.
The latest revision included an inflation estimate revised downward to 3.1 percent from 3.3 percent. The core inflation level, excluding food and energy, held at 2.0 percent.
Final sales -- a figure that includes economic activity less inventory -- were up 5.9 percent, according to the report, revised upward from the last estimate of 5.5 percent.

Consumer spending remained the driving force of the economy, showing 5.1 percent growth as measured by the report's personal consumption expenditures. That represented a slight downward revision from 5.2 percent.

Another big factor was nonresidential investment, up at a 14.2 percent pace, above the last estimate of 13.1 percent.

The report showed the output of goods and services for the world's biggest economy at an annual pace of 13.042 trillion dollars, an increase of 8.9 percent in current dollars.

(Note: I left out the sentence about the next report "expected" to show "significant cooling")

I didn't report this the other day, because as you can see from my other posts I continue to report it, and it's really just getting annoying to repeat the same things all the time. But then I saw this news today, and I had to go back and throw it up: 40 Million To Travel Over July 4th Weekend

(keep in mind, the economy is crashing and we're all broke so we can't afford to travel and pay these gas prices, etc.)

WASHINGTON (AP) - The roads and airports will likely be pretty crowded this weekend. AAA over 40 million people will travel over the Independence Day weekend. That's a record.

AAA spokesman Mantill Williams says more than 34 million of those holiday travelers will be going by car. He says high gas prices may mean people make some plan changes, but the cost won't cancel trips.

Williams says the floods in the Northeast likely won't have a big impact on travel.

An air travel expert predicts "one of the heaviest if not the heaviest" July 4th weekends ever. But Terry Trippler of Travel Passport says there shouldn't be too much of a "crush of people" at airports. He says many people will take a longer vacation because the Fourth falls on a Tuesday.

I call BS on this! A record number of people can't be traveling, we're in a recession!!!!....... Right? Well, the truth? No, we certainly aren't and this is a simple fact. We have been out of the Clinton Gore recession for years, and haven't gone back. But if you ask the American people, a majority doesn't know, or thinks that we are in recession. Thanks for such honest reporting media! Oh, it's not your fault? Then who's is it? Who led these people to believe that we're in a recession when it's not a matter of opinion, either we're in a recession or we aren't, and WE AREN'T! Don't believe me? Here's this month's screen shot of the poll results, of the "Are We In A Recession" question:

Notice that In March 59% of the country was aware that we ARE NOT in a recession, and that number has slowly gone down to 49%. What media bias!? Again, there is no other conclusion that one can reach for the idiocy of America than liberal media bias. How can 51% of the country (30% say we are in recession, 21% undecided), think we're in a recession when it's not a matter of opinion. WE ARE NOT!

This is the part where liberals chime in with "well maybe most of Americans feel that we're in a recession because it's just big corporations and Bush and Cheney's rich buddies who are making all the money. Tax Cuts for hte Rich!!!" (((BUZZER SOUND))) WRONG! As I noted earlier, month after month personally people are happy with their economic situation, but based on dishonest media reporting they have a negative view of the economy. Need more proof?

Let's go back to the American Research Group's monthly poll. In June's poll, a whopping 69% of the public rate their personal financial situation positively!!!, but how did they feel about the economy as a whole? Well, only 34% approve of Bush's handling of the economy. But wait, what happened to that other 35% that was happy about their own situation? Oh yeah, they read the constant Bush economy bashing in the media and were led to believe that as comfortable as they are, they are a fluke, and exception to the rule. You know, that 69% realize that they're just lucky, unlike the rest of us suffering. Wait, 69%? That's a healthy majority. In fact, what's odd is that around 30% (give or take) of the country identify themselves as Democrats. Hmmm...

But let's set aside the "Bush handling" of the economy question, because that gets in to partisan politics. Let's keep in mind the 69% number, and then look at the rating of the actual economy by the folks. Only 47% rate it positively!!! A difference of 22%!!! How many times can we say this: "WHAT MEDIA BIAS!?"? I'd also like to quickly note that the number of people happy with their financial situation (69%) is actually up substantially, from 52% in the previous two months. So there's no way to wiggle out of this libs. The economy is getting better for the folks, like it or not! 17% more of the country is happier with their finances this month than in the previous two months.

Now back to that difference of 69% and 47%. Would a liberal PLEAAAAAASE step forward and explain to me, how this makes any sense. How 69% can be happy with their own finances, but only 47% view the economy as a whole positively. HOW!? Sorry for all the caps and exclamation points in this post, but I'm really getting sick of having to repeat myself on this all the time. Why have we continued to see this dichotomy for years, and why does the media not report it!?

Earlier I told you about Maricopa County, AZ cracking down on illegals because the federal government won't. Arizona has passed a state law that mirrors a federal law already on the books but not being enforced, so the sheriff and posses are getting it done themselves.

Well, only a few hours later we learn of another campaign by "the people". This was isn't so much action, as it is sending a message. What message? "Stop the Invasion" on giant billboards.

Some excerpts from the Dallas / Ft. Worth's CBS 11 story:

(CBS 11 News) DALLAS Conservatives are firing back at those who support amnesty and a guest worker program for illegal immigrants. Their latest weapon is a billboard located on Stemmons Freeway in Dallas.

If you work near downtown Dallas it'll be hard to miss one billboard during your commute.

Dallas is the first city to get one, but there are plans to put these signs up from California to Florida.

"Stop the Invasion" is a reference to the massive influx of immigrants who enter the United States illegally.

“We must stop the invasion. We cannot have amnesty because amnesty is in essence a surrender to the invasion,” said Steve Elliott, grassfire.org.

Read on...

As you just read, this is billboard campaign is an undertaking of GrassFire.org. Head over to their web site now to learn more about this group and how you can help fight the good fight on this, and other issues. Even swing by just to sign a few petitions if you'd like.

GrassFire's site also has a larger photo of the Dallas billboard, in addition to information on similar billboards in other major cities coming soon. See this news release for more information on this growing campaign:

Dallas, Texas. Grassfire.org President Steve Elliott announced today at the site of the first “Stop The Invasion” billboard in Dallas, Texas, that the campaign is quickly expanding into Los Angeles, California, Phoenix, Arizona, Atlanta, Georgia, and South Florida. “Overwhelming grassroots support is fueling this aggressive expansion,” says Elliott. “Americans are eager to get this message out and we are moving quickly to place these new billboards as soon as next week.”

The idea of going across the nation with “Stop The Invasion” campaign is the result of citizen support for the billboards, says Elliott. “These billboards are being sponsored literally one square foot at a time by citizens across the nation who are frustrated and angered by the illegal alien protests and Senate talk of amnesty,” says Elliott. “We will expand as fast and as far as the American people want, taking a simple message to our highways and to Congress -- Stop The Invasion.”

Grassfire’s Atlanta and Ft. Lauderdale-Miami billboards will debut next week, with final details on Los Angeles and Phoenix still being arranged. With a Senate amnesty bill possibly to be voted on before the Memorial Day recess, Elliott says it is important to get the message out as quickly as possible. “A groundswell of opposition to amnesty is building,” says Elliot. “Senators who ignore the will of American citizens and instead listen to the shouts of illegal rights protestors do so at their own electoral risk.”

In addition to the billboards, Grassfire.org -- a national issues advocacy organization with one million active team members -- has also presented more than 300,000 “Secure Our Borders” petitions to members of the Senate Judiciary Committee, and other key members of Congress. Grassfire team members have also delivered over 290,000 faxes and phone calls on this issue.

Like the Send-A-Brick Project, this is a great way to send Washington a message, but I fear they are still too worried about the votes of America's "largets minority". These are great don't get me wrong, but I think massive anti-illegal protests are the only way to get the media attention, and in turn, Washington's attention... the same way the illegal protests did. But don't stop guys, these campaigns are great in spreading the message and letting people know that they aren't the only ones who want the border secured.

***UPDATE - SCROLL FOR MORE OF TODAY'S LEFTY MEDIA***

While I normally don't like to copy an entire article or column, I think I will in this case because trying to add much to this would only take away from what awesome news it is, and how out of the ordinary it seems for a White House Press Secretary, especially a brand new one! Anyway, go ahead Tony, it's about time someone in the administration lashed out a bit... although I think we can all agree that this is still relatively mild, and you could really give it to them if you wanted to be known for this sort of thing.

Bill Sammon for The Examiner writes:

WASHINGTON - New White House Press Secretary Tony Snow is starting off in a combative mode against the press by issuing detailed rebuttals to what he considers unfair coverage of Bush.

“The New York Times continues to ignore America’s economic progress,” blared the headline of an e-mail sent to reporters Wednesday by the White House press office.

Minutes earlier, another e-mail blasted CBS News, which has had an unusually rocky relationship with the White House since 2004, when CBS aired what turned out to be forged documents in a failed effort to question the president’s military service.

“CBS News misleadingly reports that only 8 million seniors have signed up for Medicare prescription drug coverage,” Wednesday’s missive said. “But 37 million seniors have coverage.” On Tuesday, the White House railed against “USA Today’s misleading Medicare story.”

“USA Today claims ‘poor, often minority’ Medicare beneficiaries are not enrolling in Medicare drug coverage,” the press office complained. “But by April, more than 70 percent of eligible African Americans, more than 70 percent of eligible Hispanics, and more than 75 percent of eligible Asian Americans are enrolled or have retiree drug coverage.”

White House sources said Snow, who started on the job Monday and has yet to give his first public press briefing, is determined to aggressively counter what the administration considers unfair assertions in both news and editorials about Bush. At the same time, he is eager to make the notoriously secretive administration more accessible to the press.

Can you believe that!? He even calls some of the offenders out by name! The vultures are going to be nuts when he first faces off with them!

***UPDATE***
Expose the Left has video and details about a Good Morning America segment in which Kate Snow ran around a mall, waving a $20 bill in the faces of people who make modest incomes telling them that it's how much they'll get under a Bush tax cut, while rich people will get $82,000.

What Kate Snow failed to do was tell these people was that if they pay anything in taxes, the percentage of their income is a fraction of the percentage of the income paid by a "rich" guy. I won't explain how the tax system works because if you don't already know you're either lying or willingly ignorant, so what's the point.

***UPDATE***
Similar to Tony Snow, Sen. Ted Stevens (R-Alaska) is tired of the liberal media and is lashing out against CNN's shady practices. Better watch out, or they'll throw the old Cheney X on him.

Senator Files Complaint Against CNN After 'Ambush' Thu May 11 2006 12:21:05 ET

Sen. Ted Stevens (R-Alaska) is filing a formal complaint with chamber officials regarding what he considers an “unethical” broadcast of an interview with him by a CNN reporter Tuesday.

ROLL CALL reports: In an incident that could have repercussions for TV journalists’ access to the chamber, Stevens is furious with CNN correspondent Joe Johns for an interview conducted outside the weekly GOP policy luncheons, but far away from the usual bank of TV cameras set up for such interviews next to the storied Ohio Clock.

“This was not a formal interview request. This was an ambush in the hallway,” said Stevens spokeswoman Courtney Boone. “He was asked to go on camera and declined.”

Stevens is filing the complaint with the Senate Radio/TV Gallery, the office charged with overseeing broadcast reporters, and the Rules and Administration Committee, which establishes the ground rules for what access media have on the Senate side of the Capitol.

CNN officials denied Stevens’ assertion that he didn’t know he was being filmed by their employees. “It was not an ambush, the Senator knew he was on camera,” said Edie Emery, a CNN spokeswoman.

It’s unclear what steps would be taken by either the gallery or the committee, or if there would be any punitive actions against Johns or the network if his report is found to have broken chamber policy.

Let's hope that President Bush doesn't call law enforcement in Maricopa County, AZ "vigilantes", like he did the Minutemen. And just incase anyone isn't aware, the Minutemen do nothing more than spot border crossers, and inform border patrol. Similarly, Maricopa County is just enforcing the law and essetially saying "screw you Feds if you won't want to crack down, we will!"

Fox News has the story of what will hopefully become a trend:

A 250-member posse that will operate similarly to the anti-smuggler task force will patrol the area for illegal immigrants who pay smugglers to cross through Arizona, the busiest illegal entry point along the 2,000-mile U.S.-Mexico border.

The posse will be made up of existing sheriff's deputies and members of the department's 3,000-member posse reserve of trained, unpaid volunteers.

The four illegal immigrants pulled over Monday will be turned over to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement and sent back to Mexico. But those that are captured by the posse may end up in jail, charged under a state law that has been used against more than 100 illegal immigrants in Maricopa County this year.

Here's the best part. Arizona modeled a state law after a federal law that simply wasn't being enforced by the feds, so that their local law enforcement could take the power back. Are you hearing this New Mexico, California, and Texas.

The law made human smuggling a state crime in Arizona — it was already a federal crime — allowing local law enforcement agencies to arrest suspected smugglers. It was meant to crack down on smugglers, but under a disputed interpretation, County Attorney Andrew Thomas argues the law can be applied to the smuggled immigrants themselves.

Thomas maintains illegal immigrants who pay smugglers to enter the United States are committing conspiracy to smuggle and can therefore be prosecuted under the state law.

I hate to sound cheesy and steal the "you're a great American" line from Sean Hannity, but what else do you say about this Sherrif:

"I'm going to catch as many as I can and throw them in my jail," said Sheriff Joe Arpaio. "And the jails are not that nice."

They may not be that nice sir, but I almost have to wonder if they're better than living in Mexico. I would say that the thought of being thrown in jail, as word spreads, could act as a deterrant. But I mean, in jail they get fed free and life is probably about as good as it was in Mexico.

It remains to be seen whether a judge will uphold the smuggling law as applicable to illegal immigrants. Lawyers for some arrested illegal immigrants have filed motions to have the charges dismissed.

I've got to ask a weird question here... Where are illegal ALIENS getting lawyers!?

Let's hear more from our new hero:

"I get sued when I go to the toilet. You think I'm worried about it?" he said. "If they think I'm going to slow down because of these threats, I've got news for them — I'm not going to slow down. I'll do more of it."

Okay, well he's one liners could use a little more work. He makes his point, but with some sort of Rumsfeld-esque flair he could have really gotten a great soundbyte out of that. Read the rest of the story hear.

Either way this is great news, and they are trying to send the message "don't cross here". The bad news is that they'll just cross somewhere else unless all border counties take the same action. Let's get it done folks.

May 09, 2006

As you might have heard, Fox News' UN reporter Eric Shawn has a new book out entitled The U.N. Exposed : How the United Nations Sabotages America's Security and Fails the World. I just ran across National Review Online interview with Eric, conducted by the NRO's Kathryn Lopez, and thought I'd pass it along to everyone. I have only begun reading it, so I'll just excerpt the opening for you, and you can go check it out for yourself.

The U.N. has been incapable of confronting the gravest issues of our time, from terrorism to nuclear proliferation,” Eric Shawn tells National Review Online. “ It should stand as a beacon of hope and humanity. But instead, that ideal has been perverted by compromise, appeasement, and graft.”

As a correspondent for the Fox News Channel, Shawn covers the United Nations-so you know he never runs out of stories. In his new book on the beat, The U.N. Exposed, he, as the subtitle tells, reveals How the United Nations Sabotages America’s Security and Fails the World. He took some questions from NRO editor Kathryn Lopez on the tsunami at Turtle Bay, wasted tsunami funds, Iran, and much more.

Read on....

Like I said, I've only begun to read this, but I suspect it's worth a read, just as I suspect Eric's book will be. Incase you didn't know, I'm a "Get the UN out of NY"er, and I find them to be a shameful anti-American organization with (tinfoilt hat pleas) NWO goals that they hope to achieve through myths like "global warming" and overpopulation, among others. I also find the lack of reporting on their tremendous scandals a disgrace, particularly a story I heard about a couple years ago, but haven't heard any follow-up on, which is that UN officials were raping thousands of little girls in the Congo, as young as 12 and some reports even younger! As I said this was a couple years ago and I haven't heard any coverage about the UNtouchables since, but I did dig up this one WND article about the situation, though if want to dig I'm sure you can find more out there. And it's not jus the Congo, I found this article about similar activies in Bosnia, when I was looking for the Congo story.

Anyway I obviously don't think the UN exists for anything but evil, and it should be taken apart ASAP... But we know that won't happen, so I guess having John Bolton be our UN man is as good as it will get.

Back to Eric Shawn's book, I hope he covers the Congo rape situation in the book, because no one else seems to want to, in addition to all the obvious inner office type sex scandals, weasels abusing their immunitiy.... and oh yeah, only the biggest scandal in the history of the world - Oil for Food!

Over the past few days I'd been seeing "The Sandbox" in the trackbacks of some of the blogs I usually peruse, so I checked out his blog and realized why I hadn't run across his blog before. He's brand new!

I'll withhold the name of the author of The Sandbox at this point, although it's currently all in his "about" page, easily accesible from the home page. But depending on how popular he gets, he may not want a lot of people knowing his full name.

Anyway, The Sandbox is more than just another bloviation station, it's the world viewed through the eyes of an Air Force man who intends to be deployed soon. He's actually written an excellent post that tells his whole path to the military, and hopes to make it a series in which he posts similar stories from other members of the U.S. military.

So what are you still doing here? As you know I'm longwinded (or would that be long.....keyed?), so I'll try to stop rambling now and just let you go check out The Sandbox for yourself and make sure to add a bookmark, as The Sandbox shows a lot of promise to be an important and interesting blog, with a unique perspective. I've added The Sandbox to my blogroll, and I recommend you do the same if you've got a blog.

***UPDATE***
I'm kicking myself for not personally thanking The Sandbox's author for his service, which was one thing I wanted to make sure I did in this post when I set out to write it. Not a good enough excuse, but I can only attribute it to being tired from having been up all night (working my bar gig I do on Saturdays). I don't know how else I could have forgotten the one thing I wanted to say.

So thank you (again, not wanting to have his name out there incase he later would like it to not be fully public) author of The Sandbox for your service, and to all members of the military.

I actually just heard passing mention on TV, that it's National Military Appreciation Month. I think we should appreciate them every day, but I suppose the point of the "month" is to highlight the story, and perhaps gain a little attention by hopefully getting in the headlines, etc. You can learn more from NMAM's homepage.... because you won't learn much from the media.

I just did a quick Yahoo! News search on "Military Appreciation Month" and there are only 16 links, and only one of them has that phrase in the headline. It's an article about Virginia declaring Military Appreciation Month to coincide with National Military Appreciation Month.

At least a Google News search has more, though not much, and the top link isn't a "news" outlet it's a link to a Defense Department Press Release about a McDonald's sponsored event called "Fleet Week USA - A National Salute to America's Heroes", taking place in Ft. Lauderdale, FL. I guess what I'm saying is stuff your fat face with some McDonald's today, to support a company that supports the troops. Plus it's a good excuse to piss off Morgan Spurlock.

Last night I mentioned the White House Correspondent's annual dinner event, and it's odd guest list. Well, it turned out to be a less funny event than I've seen in the past, but President Bush's "speech" was pretty funny, so I thought I'd share the video.

Steve Bridges who makes a living by getting made up to look like the President, and impersonating him at various events and on television, stood next to the President, at his own podium and sort of played the role of the president's "brain" or "conscience". Basically when he spoke, it is supposedly what the President is really thinking, but then the real President Bush would speak and it would be much friendlier to the audience and his words would be screwed up, etc. Definitely worth a watch.

[NOTE FROM RIGHTWINGED.COM: Due to high site traffic, I've taken the direct video off of my site, and am now embedding version I found on iFilm.

I think my favorite line was:

... continue to spread our agenda globally, and around the world, as well as internationally

Stephen Colbert totally bombed during his portion of the show. And I don't just say that as a conservative who didn't like jokes at the President's expense. In fact I love jokes about his "Bushisms" and when cleverly written, even some jokes about policy can be funny to.

Colbert's performance was just extremely weak, and as I said he totally bombed. I don't base this on my reaction to the jokes... I base it on the dead silence for roughly 90% of his monologue, in a room full of liberals. Setting aside the fact that he had hardly any funny jokes, he also did go a little too far in his "jokes" in trashing the President who was seated only a few feet away. It just got worse and worse. The funniest part was probably when he pointed out Plame and Wilson (again, huh?) in the audience and then faked concern for "outting" her.

Anyway, I was shocked at Colbert's performance. Usually the guest entertainer is the best part, but I just can't believe how unbelievably bad he was, when he's usually pretty funny. I may dig through and find the one or two funny (or maybe just odd) moments later if folks express any interest, but it would be total waste to post the entire thing because it was just that bad.

Editor & Publisher has more on Colbert's performance, noting the President's obvious displeasure (not that visible on C-SPAN). While E&P provides a quick rundown of Colbert's material, it fails to mention how painfully unfunny it was.

***UPDATE***
(Should've known) Hot Air also has highlights from the Bush segment and the Colbert segment. If you are interested in seeing if my review is on point or not, check it out... but remember - I warned you. Do remember though, that these are only a few highlights. You'd have to see the entire thing to understand how truly terrible it was. Hot Air anticipates C-SPAN posting the video on their site, and then you'd be able to check out the entire thing.
