POLL: 51% Of Democrats Hate America

*Note - I originally read the poll wrong and gave the Dems to much credit myself, only stating that 40% of them hated America. Thanks to eagle eyed Milblogger Cpl M of A Soldier's Perspective, who emailed to notify me of my obvious mistake I made while sleep blogging this. So to be clear Dems, this is an even worse number for you, not better. My mistake didn't assist my case, the correct number does

Do I have your attention? You're probably asking yourself, "how could Dems actually flat out admit such a thing?" Well, they basically did, just not in those exact words. In the most recent Fox News poll, question #10 was asked:

10. Regardless of how you voted in the presidential election, would you say you want President Bush to succeed or not? SCALE: 1. Yes, want him to succeed 2. No, do not want him to succeed 3. (Don’t know)

You would think that everyone, even people that hate him, would say "Of course we want him to succeed. He's the President of my country, and a failure for him is a failure for my country." Well, you're giving Democrats WAY to much credit:

If you didn't catch that, 51% of Democrats don't want the President to succeed! I don't know where those 7% of Republicans that gave the same idiotic response came from, and disecting "independents" would be a waste of time. The point is that more than half of all Democrats want President Bush to fail, meaning they want America to fail.

Preemptive Strike
Before libs get on here and say "We didn't say we hate America or want it to fail, we are saying we don't support his policies". Sorry, that's not going to fly because that's not what the poll question asked. It asked simply if they wanted him to succeed. Now even if I were to grant you your spin that this is about Bush's policies, it's still appalling that you would hope that they failed and my point still stands. Suppose you argue that you don't want him to succeed because he's at war in Iraq. So your argument is then that you want us to lose in Iraq? See, it's not any better.

Again, that's not the point. The point is the question wasn't about policy, it was about the president succeeding. Basically what the question means is when you look back 20 years or 100 year from now or whenever, whether you would like President Bush's presidency to have been a success or a failure (the way we look at Carter's now). Of course you'll accuse me of trying to spin what the question said, but I'm not. It's quite simple, do you want him to succeed, i.e. do you want his presidency to be a success. 51% of you Dems have said no, and it's that simple.

Disheartening and disgusting. I think we are seeing such polarization nowadays, that many Dems (and the poll would indicate a majority) would rather have Bush fail than support for what would be a "win" for the country.

I marvel at how the Dem platform gains strength only if things go badly - and not just badly for Republicans, but bad for the county. I do not see a party of solutions, but a party of intent on how to seize the advantage built on divisiveness and negatives.

Well said... I obsessed over that same phenomenon during 2004 election. Well, I was obsessed with liberals not seeing it. I could never make them see that they were going to vote for someone who was rooting for things to go badly, because that was the only thing that seemed to work for them. Their poll numbers never went up, but when Bush's went down it seemed like a victory to them, and Bush's numbers went down because things weren't going (at least in people's eyes) that great for the country. It didn't help that they couldn't (and still can't) articulate a plan for anything. "President Bush has failed" "time for a change" "new direction" "smart and tough foreing policy" "we'll get Bin Laden"... Those aren't plans Dems! Those are emply promises... a plan would be to tell us HOW to achieve those. Or are you all like Kerry who claims that you'll reveal a plan after you're elected... which essentially told us that he cared more about winning the election than winning in Iraq, because he could have brought his plan to the President and said "this is how to do it". Liberals won't get it, or they will choose to play stupid because they don't have an honest bone in their bodies.

I was reading your response and was getting hyped up to add that Kerry, during his campaing kept saying he "had a plan" but it was never the right time to reveal it. And there, before I finished reading, you were on that.

Like you, I just don't get it. I know what we need. Recently there were polls in England - are you British first or a Muslin first? We need one - Are you an American first or a Democrat?
