National Illegal Alien Day Is Here!!! Work Walk Outs And American Boycotts?

You probably heard about the illegal immigrant protest in Dallas yesterday, that drew between 350,000 and 500,000 people. But did you hear about their plans for today? There are events being coordinated nationwide (see page three) that go beyond protests, in to work walkouts and boycotting American goods for the day. How is this productive? I don't even understand what kind of statement that is supposed to make?

There hasn't been a lot of talk in the MSM yet, about what today's events will be, but Michelle Malkin first clued us in yesterday when she coined the phrase "National Illegal Alien Day". She links to a page put together by the National Capital Immigrant Coalition that has a listing of events by state. A few days earlier Michelle posted a link to, and copied an event list from the NAOC.

What's annoying is the lack of counter protests. As usual, we as the silent majority sit by and led this garbage go on. Meanwhile video of downtown streets of our major cities look like recent videos of France... minus the car torching and violence against police (so far.) Drudge made a good point on Drudge Radio last night though - It probably wouldn't be a good idea to go out with signs or anything, opposing these people. They've obviously got a couple screws loose as it is, and I think just inches from turning violent.

Seriously though, hasn't this all become a little too much? These people are all protesting for the rights of people who broke, and continue to break our laws? At least some are punishing workers if they leave work to participate, but they are most likely legal anyway. But as Michelle Malkin also noted, and Fox News has now been reporting, some schools are going to give credit to students who participate?! Thankfully others will be punishing their kids, but it's certainly not the end of all this, and definitely not the beginning either. Did you all catch the protests over the past few weeks? Students all over the southwest leaving school, wanding downtown streets and on to highways?

By the way, how annoying was it to see all of the Mexican flags at these protests? If Mexico is so great, what the hell are you doing here!? Have you ever seen anything so stupid? Worse is that some not-so-fringe groups, that were involved in these events, are of the "take back California for Mexico" mindset.

As for the actual solution to the immigration problem... I think before anything else, we need the National Guard at the border until a wall is built. Once we have stopped the flow we can figure out what to do with the people who are here, but it's obviously too costly to deport 12-20 million people. A lot of plans and ideas have been floating around about things like making those who've been here and working for 5 or more years legal after they learn English and pay some fines and back taxes, etc. And other rules for people who've been here for fewer years, and so on. And while many are claiming this isn't amnesty and really the only option sense there's no way to deport all these people, the problem is you could never follow through with this either. How are people who are illegally here, often working for under the table pay, going to have a record of work and a way to track the taxes they owe?

So there is really no "good" plan out there at this point, I don't think, but again none of that really matters at this point. What's here is here, and we can deal with it somehow eventually, but the most important is sealing up the border. Why? Well partly because of the Mexican problem, but mainly because of terrorism. The cliche, but true point that is often made, but doesn't seem to be acknowledge in Washington is that "if Mexicans can sneak in, so can terrorists with suitcase nukes, or anthrax, or whatever..."

The problem is that almost everyone, on both sides of the aisle, are afraid to lose the hispanic vote by taking a tough stance on illegal immigration and I don't see that changing any time soon. Tancredo is one of the few elected voices actually speaking the truth about our current invasion situation, and I would think that many Republicans feel the same way, but are sissying out because they are afraid of the race card. That's still not good, but at least we could hope they would come around eventually.

As for today's protests, we'll have to sit back and watch what happens. They've shown they have the ability to organize massive protests that have remained peaceful so far, and let's hope that the same is true today. I doubt their "don't buy American" plan will do anything, but just incase, make an extra effort to buy more American products to balance it out. As for coverage, I recommend keeping an eye on Michelle Malkin's blog. While you wait, check out her coverage of yesterday's Dallas event, with a lot of photos of anti-Americanism and pro-Mexicanism. The organizers of today's events have told their people to stop with all the Mexican flags, but we'll see.

My friend Cordova is also in the US army here in Germany. He is a mexican. Not mexican American but a mexican from Tijuana who is working on becoming an American citizen. He just had a daughter born at a German hospital who is now considered german since she was born at a german national hospital. So in essence hes a mexican with a 'German' daughter who is trying to become an American citizen. What are your thoughts on aliens in the American Army?I also noticed you said 'How are people who are illegally here, often working for under the table pay, going to have a record of work and a way to track the taxes they owe?'
Well for starters they are illegal aliens so its safe to say they aren't working for some fortune 500 company under the table and squirelling it all away in Switzerland. It should just be a sliding scale of how many years/how many dependents. Its not like they are making a vast difference in income. They pick oranges, strawberries, mow lawns etc..

I could really imagine Randy hyperventilating as he was writing this post. They are coming to get us! Oh no! Head for hills! Let's stop hyperventilating for a bit, step back, and take a nice slow deep breath.

The reason politicians are afraid isn't only because of the latino vote though it certainly is a factor. What these politicians are afraid of is that business leaders throughout the US depend on cheap immigrant labor and many of these political leaders don't want to bite the hand that feeds them. If it was only about votes then draconian immigration laws long ago. Latinos don't have large enough numbers to swing votes except in a few large cities.

This sudden push for legislation strikes me as a political move to distract from the mess that is Iraq, Delay, the leaker in chief, etc. scandals. Why all this hullabaloo now over immigrants? A few months before the Nov. elections, What a coincidence, no? Why aren't we severely punishing Americans who knowingly hire illegal immigrants? That would have a much larger impact on the number of illegal aliens in this country. Oh, and guess what they are breaking the law too!

The average American loves all the comforts that cheap labor brings. Imagine a US where we pay $20 for a bag of oranges or apples. Or imagine a place where we pay half of our salary for child care. Or several hundred dollars for lawn care. and a myriad of other services for exorbitant prices. And on top of that, most immigrants do this crappy work pretty happily while most Americans would expect double of triple pay and be miserable doing it.

Randy, its getting quite ridiculous and out of hand with all the porn bots here.Did you stop the registration process from typekey.com?Keep in touch...yuck!I think I just bumped into asspirates.com.Got any tissue?

Today is National Illegal Alien Day!

The news media will attend all demonstrations, but U.S. immigration officials won't attend any. Illegal aliens will march through our city streets with impunity.

Immigration Debate: Facts Every American Should Know

It is ALREADY against the law to enter the United States illegally, punishable by a fine and imprisonment. It is ALREADY against the law to hire illegal aliens. We don't need new immigration laws, we only need the current laws to be enforced - and a fence. Read on: Learn the facts about illegal immigration that every American should know.

FACT: “Immigrants” are people lawfully admitted for permanent residence in the United States. "Illegal aliens” are people who enter the United States without permission; their presence in the United States violates the law.

FACT: United States Code, Title 8, Chapter 12, Subchapter II, Part VIII, Section 1325, states: “Any alien who enters the United States at any time or place other than as designated by immigration officers shall be fined or imprisoned not more than 6 months, or both, and, for a subsequent commission of any such offense, be fined or imprisoned not more than 2 years, or both.”

FACT: United States Code, Title 8, Chapter 12, Subchapter II, Part VIII, Section 1324a, states: “It is unlawful for a person or other entity to hire for employment in the United States, an alien, knowing the alien is an unauthorized alien…”

FACT: In 2006, jobs, elementary school education, drivers licenses, in-state college tuition, bank accounts, food stamps, health care, and even home ownership, are all offered to illegal aliens. Some city councils are even considering letting illegal aliens vote in elections because they have children in public schools. The states of Washington, California, New York, Illinois, Oklahoma, Texas, and Utah provide in-state college tuition rates to illegal aliens; other states are considering the same tuition policy. Several states grant drivers licenses to illegal aliens, ignoring the fact that driver’s licenses are used as a form of ID nationwide. In a few instances, illegal aliens received expensive organ transplant surgery free of charge, and they were placed ahead of tax-paying Americans on the waiting list for the scarce organs. Realtors and lenders in several cities have been known to help illegal aliens purchase homes. Several American cities have become sanctuaries for illegal aliens: In 2003, Seattle’s City Council passed an ordinance preventing the city’s police from questioning the immigration status of people they meet on the streets. For aliens crossing America’s southwest border illegally, water-stations are provided to make the trip through the desert easier. Humanitarian groups placed the water stations along known illegal alien smuggling routes in the Arizona desert.

FACT: In June 2003, the United States Park Ranger Lodge of the Fraternal Order of Police announced the “Ten Most Dangerous National Parks in the United States.” Organ Pipe Cactus National Monument in Arizona, Amistad National Recreation Area in Texas, and Big Bend National Park in Texas, claimed the top three positions because of the high volume of illegal alien smuggling activity in those parks. At Organ Pipe Cactus National Monument, the rangers estimated that 250 violent drug smugglers and illegal aliens march through the park and public campground areas each night.

FACT: In April 2005, a group of U.S. citizens calling themselves “Minutemen” went to the U.S.-Mexico border to observe illegal aliens entering the country and turn them over to the U.S. Border Patrol. The Minutemen proved that illegal immigration could be stopped by placing more guards on America’s borders, but President George W. Bush derided the efforts of the Minutemen by calling them “vigilantes.”

FACT: In 2006, it is estimated that more than 12 million illegal aliens reside in the United States. In 2003, the Department of Homeland Security said that it apprehended 1,046,422 illegal aliens, but experts said that nearly 3 million people illegally entered the United States that year. In 2002, the U.S. Department of Homeland Security officially reported that there were approximately 7 million unauthorized immigrants living in the United States, and that 67 percent of them, or 4,690,000 people, had entered the United States without being stopped or questioned. They had entered the country illegally by sneaking across the border. Source: “Yearbook of Immigration Statistics,” U.S. Department of Homeland Security, 2002, 2003.

FACT and OPINION: It took only 19 people to destroy the World Trade Center and kill nearly 3,000 Americans on September 11, 2001. Americans can’t afford to allow millions of people to illegally cross U.S. borders and reside in the United States on the assumption that most of them are just “migrant workers.” Allowing and encouraging illegal immigration to the United States, especially after 9/11, is dangerous and foolhardy.

Thank you.

Rob, it kind of depends... You didn't specify whether he entered illegally. Also, I heard some people propose having illegals serve a period of time in the military. I don't think that's the type of "all volunteer" we want, and would not be the best idea.

Piero, you're using such cliche arguments.... Not even getting in to them bringing the wages down, you're out of your mind with your child care comments... Who lets illegals watch their kids? Maybe rich idiots in the southwest, but most of the country doesn't have illegal Mexicans watching their children, and it DOES cost hundreds of dollars per week to have normal child care/day care/whatever.

But you missed the whole point in my "hyperventalating"... At worst that post was a little rushed, just to get it out there before "illegal alien day" got going, and I was heading to bed. I repeatedly said the border is the issue and dealing with the millions who are here is secondary. I know you libs are so blinded by idealogy that all you hear is "righties hate all non-whites even though they do the work that Americans won't do"... And you totally ignore the OBVIOUS security risk at the border. You're not really deserving of a response since you chose to totally ignore that which was my main point in my personal opinion on the matter.

and Rob, I emailed you back.. yeah, I turned the typekey thing off for now because of the problems you were having (and so was I)... so yeah, I'm still getting all the porn spam crap

bla bla, "libs are so blinded" , so life is that easy is it, black or white, republican or democrat? Do thats where this is about ? Really the way you put it, makes that the Republicans use this issue to get voters, Let's see how this ressolves, but if they do I'm inclined to vote against the Republicans, really... I'm sick of this hate campaign all the time

okay, your comment is full of broken sentences, so any response would be just responding to a guess as to what you're talking about.... but what "hate campaign"? Wanting to secure the borders? Yeah, there's no risk there.. millions of Mexicans can cross, but terrorists couldn't... great point.

No it's not "republican or democrat"? They're both asleep at the wheel if you read what I said! Yes it's for votes on both sides, but I do believe that many of the Republicans sympathize with the conservative base and Tancredo, etc. but they're "damned if they do, damned if they don't".... If they were to get tough on enforcement, they risk losing upcoming elections because Dems will not only pull the race card, but promise to reverse any tough immigration policies in order to win votes. Latinos are the largest minority in the country, and not far off from being a majority really, and the politicians know that this is a huge voting base. Everyone is in it for the votes, but I believe many Republicans see no other choice because, as I said, because if it causes them to lose an election by following their principles, anything they do would just be reversed when the Dems won there seats.
