I'm not sure this should be news that NAACP Chairman Julian Bond is comparing the GOP with Nazis, because it's not really out of the ordinary for this nut.

"Their idea of equal rights is the American flag and the Confederate swastika flying side by side," Bond told a cheering audience. "They've written a new constitution for Iraq and ignore the Constitution here at home. They draw their most rabid supporters from the Taliban wing of American politics. Now they want to write bigotry back into the Constitution."

Let's go back further... July 10, 2001

The tale began Sunday in New Orleans with NAACP Chairman Julian Bond's remarks to the civil rights group's 92nd convention. "He has selected nominees from the Taliban wing of American politics, appeased the wretched appetites of the extreme right wing, and chosen Cabinet officials whose devotion to the Confederacy is nearly canine in its uncritical affection," Bond said of Bush.

That's just scratching the surface. So what's new about today?

Civil rights activist and NAACP Chairman Julian Bond delivered a blistering partisan speech at Fayetteville State University in North Carolina last night, equating the Republican Party with the Nazi Party and characterizing Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice and her predecessor, Colin Powell, as "tokens."

"The Republican Party would have the American flag and the swastika flying side by side," he charged.

Calling President Bush a liar, Bond told the audience at the historically black institution that this White House's lies are more serious than the lies of his predecessor's because Clinton's lies didn't kill people.

We could go in to fromer NAACP Kweisi Mfume's statements as well, but that would take a lot of digging, and this is a Julian Bond post anyway.

Anyway, it seems that the NAACP is walking a thin line when it comes to their tax-exempt status and partisan politics. But the second someone comes down on them they scream "RACISM!", so don't try it.

I wonder how these fellas feel about Hillary comparing what slaves went through, to what Democrats in Congress go through. (Video at Expose the Left if you somehow missed it)
