Newsbusters has the video and low down of Bryant Gumbel saying on TV:

Wow, remember what happened to Rush Limbaugh? Don't expect the same outrage here. This won't go further than the blogs.

Anyway, what's the deal Bryant? Is a "GOP convention" the only place a large gathering of white people can be found? Or are you an angry lib who just couldn't help but try to spin the winter olympics in to a partisan political issue. Don't these people ever worry about being in a follow-up to UnhingedMichelle Malkin's book - Unhinged, when they make these most ridiculous of comments?

So again, Dumbell, is that really what you think when you see a bunch of white people? I was born and raised in Vermont which at last check was the second whitest state in the nation, with a shocking 96.8% of the population being white. Is Vermont one big GOP convention? No you idiot. It's one of the most liberal places in the country! What about the liberal nation of Canada, is that a GOP convention?!

So what's with the ridiculous generalization? Let's look at a couple things for starters. It's no secret that blacks in America reside predominently in the south. You know the warmer, less mountainous region of the country. They don't grow up skiing, ice skating, playing hockey, and curli... well I don't know anyone who grows up curling, but you get the point. Look at the extremely white Europe and Canada rounding out many of those in the Winter Games. Even China. I don't think you see too many 50 Cent videos being filmed in these countries.

But look at the summer olympics. I don't have any stats, but try to think back to all the stars of the track and field events, and of basketball, etc. They are predominently black. So Gumbel, is it okay for me to make baseless and ridiculous racially charged generalizations too? How would you feel if I said about the Summer Olympics or about the NBA:

White Tom: "Hey Jim can you believe that basketball game? It looked like the Compton swap meet down there."
White Jim: "You aren't kidding Tom. It reminds me of the time I went to the summer olympics. It looked like the grand opening of a new barbeque joint."

Would that be okay Gumble?
