UPDATE: Why weren't Kerry and Bin Laden a "duo"?

If you haven't already done so, please read my original post here:

Washington Post Equates Pat Robertson and Iranian President
Mahmoud Ahmadinejad

Now, really think about the hypocrisy I point out of the media not calling Howard Dean and Baghdad Bob a "duo" with "shared feelings", or worse Kerry and Bin Laden. Really think back... remember these "duos" making statements that actually were almost the same, compared to Robertson and Ahmadinejad who said two totally different things. Having trouble remembering? Here's a quick refresher I'm able to provide thanks to Rush Limbaugh and this reference to him at FreeRepublic.com

I felt the need to do this because of comments I've received from people who obviously have short memories, and from comments I see in response to The Political Teen's post on the matter. So below I've ripped the quotes from the Limbaugh transcript. It contains Bin Laden quotes from the tape that came out October 29, 2004, along side parts Kerry's many statements:

Bin Laden:

Now we're in the fourth year after September 11th. Bush continues to mislead you about the real reasons. Therefore what happened could be repeated. I will talk to you about the reasons for these events, and I will be honest about the moments when the decision was taken. I tell you, God knows that we have never thought of hitting the towers until we were fed up with the U.S.-Israeli alliance.

KERRY September 20, 2004:

Bush has not told the truth to the American people about why we went to war and how the war is going. Misleading our nation into war in Iraq makes you unfit to lead our country.

Bin Laden:

President Bush was preoccupied by talking to children. He was talking to children how to treat their goats and sheep and animals at the same time that 50,000 people, American people were in danger, and this gave us three times the time we needed to attack the towers.

KERRY August 5, 2004:

Had I been reading to children and had my top aide whispered in my ear "America is under attack," I would have told those kids very politely and nicely that the President of the United States had something that he needed to attend to, and I would have attended to it. (Cheers and applause.)

Bin Laden:

When Bush the father visited the region, he learned from the regimes there how to be a dictator, and he learned oppression and exploiting wealth from our people.

KERRY September 8, 2004

The Saudi royal family that said as far as they're concerned in the U.S. presidential election, it's Bush all the way. Well, I want an America that relies on its own ingenuity, on our own intervention, not the Saudi royal family.

Bin Laden:

And at the same time he learned how to play around with elections at the time that they need it most as what happened in Florida.

KERRY:

I've met folks down in Florida, I've met folks in other states in the country, and they come up to me and they tell me, "You know, I went down there to vote. I was registered, but they told me I wasn't. By the time I was able to figure it out, it was too late." 57,000 votes in Palm Beach, West Palm Beach, just weren't counted. A million African-Americans were disenfranchised in the last election.

So back to the question: Why didn't the Washington Post call them a "duo"? You can't argue that each group of statements aren't closer to each other than Robertson and Ahmadinejad's recent statements... Well, you could, but you'd be being extremely dishonest to do so...

Quick side note. See the quote above about how Kerry says he'd have handled the 9/11 situation better? Well let's take a quick journey back to see what he told Larry King about that day, shall we?

I was in the Capitol. We'd just had a meeting -- we'd just come into a leadership meeting in Tom Daschle's office, looking out at the Capitol. And as I came in, Barbara Boxer and Harry Reid were standing there, and we watched the second plane come in to the building. And we shortly thereafter sat down at the table and then we just realized nobody could think, and then boom, right behind us, we saw the cloud of explosion at the Pentagon.

The interesting thing here is that second plane to hit the WTC was at 9:03 a.m, but the plane that hit the Pentagon wasn't until 9:43.

That is obviously off topic, but I wouldn't be surprised to get some libs commenting, and as usual diverting the issue by blabbing about Bush in the school instead of the point about media hypocrisy here.

UPDATE 6:33pm CT: The Political Teen is now linking to a story from Human Events Online, that wonders why Harry Reid is so quick to criticize Robertson but not Ahmadinejad? I have the answer. Because he's an American Democrat, that's why. Not much else to say about it.
