Clinton "Surprises" Returning Troops (and himself)

Here's a puff piece on Clinton "Surprising" troops returning from Iraq. It should be noted that he was as "surprised" as anyone, because he was only there because of mechanical problems on his plane.

Clinton was returning Monday night from Paris where he had met with French President Jacques Chirac to discuss plans for his charitable organization, the Clinton Foundation.

Clinton's departure was delayed by a problem with his aircraft, allowing him to join a line of local troop greeters who meet each plane carrying soldiers returning from overseas or leaving for duty.

I wonder if he told them what a "Big Mistake" they are a part of? I suppose he reserves those comments for when he's in Dubai speaking to Arab students:

(AP) Former President Bill Clinton told Arab students Wednesday the United States made a "big mistake" when it invaded Iraq, stoking the partisan debate back home over the war.

Back to the headline. This is just a drop in the bucket for the liberal media, but a rather annoying one. The media is hoping that headline readers will think "aaaw, what a nice guy", without finding out what really happened. Again, this isn't the story of the year, but do you think the headline would read "Bush Surprises Troops Back from Iraq", if the President met with troops under the same circumstances? If anyone thinks it would have been covered the same way, they're crazy.
