Here's a puff piece on Clinton "Surprising" troops returning from Iraq. It should be noted that he was as "surprised" as anyone, because he was only there because of mechanical problems on his plane.

Clinton was returning Monday night from Paris where he had met with French President Jacques Chirac to discuss plans for his charitable organization, the Clinton Foundation.

Clinton's departure was delayed by a problem with his aircraft, allowing him to join a line of local troop greeters who meet each plane carrying soldiers returning from overseas or leaving for duty.

I wonder if he told them what a "Big Mistake" they are a part of? I suppose he reserves those comments for when he's in Dubai speaking to Arab students:

(AP) Former President Bill Clinton told Arab students Wednesday the United States made a "big mistake" when it invaded Iraq, stoking the partisan debate back home over the war.

Back to the headline. This is just a drop in the bucket for the liberal media, but a rather annoying one. The media is hoping that headline readers will think "aaaw, what a nice guy", without finding out what really happened. Again, this isn't the story of the year, but do you think the headline would read "Bush Surprises Troops Back from Iraq", if the President met with troops under the same circumstances? If anyone thinks it would have been covered the same way, they're crazy.

NOLA.com has the story on a recall effort being waged against Blanco.

BATON ROUGE, La. (AP) — A formal push to oust Gov. Kathleen Blanco, after harsh criticism of her response to hurricanes Katrina and Rita, began Tuesday when a St. Martinville resident filed a recall petition with Louisiana's elections office.

Louisiana's can learn more about and join the effort here.
Blanco was in Holland today, and Michelle wonders if she might have been shopping for new office furniture, referring to the recent story about the expensive remodeling Blanco is having done at the capital.

You might recall the clips of Blanco throwing a fit over Bush and FEMA's reaction to Katrina, while her own people were the ones blocking the Red Cross.
Louisiana Libertarian apparently gives this news a Dean scream.
Junkyard Blog asks:

...do you want to count on her during the next hurricane season?

Well, Diplomats from Mexico and Central American aren't exactly Moses... Rather than demanding that Egypt "let my people go", they are demanding that the US "let their people in"!

Why don't these countries fix their own problems instead of acknowledging how much better we are than them and saying, basically "We demand that you take our people now! We have nothing to offer them, so you need to loosen your borders further and let in and legalize everyone who wants to come."

Of course I'm paraphrasing, but is that much different than what they're actually saying?

The opening paragraph to this AP story says it all (still read the whole thing though):

Diplomats from Mexico and Central America on Monday demanded guest worker programs and the legalization of undocumented migrants in the United States, while criticizing a U.S. proposal for tougher border enforcement.

I don't think there is anything really new here... I just can't help but wonder what it must feel like for these countries to have such a lack of national pride.

The Stardust Spacecraft is returning home with some comet goodies for our science types to study. Seriously, though, it's amazing to see all the things that "we" have done in space over the past couple years. Like the Mars Rover project, or the Cassini-Huygens Saturn project, or how about Deep Impact, just to name a few.

Setting aside the always annoying "4.5 billion years ago" bologna that always creep in to this type of news, this is still an interesting story.

But it ain't over 'til it's over... it's gotta get here first, before they can really study it.

But the capsule isn't home yet.

First it faces a blistering descent, piercing the atmosphere at a record-breaking 29,000 mph -- the fastest re-entry of any man-made probe.

Its target is Dugway Proving Ground, a Rhode Island-sized Army base southwest of Salt Lake City where in 2004 the ill-fated Genesis probe crashed on live television after its parachute failed to open. Despite that crash, scientists recovered enough solar wind atoms for study.

I can remember watching that live and how bummed everyone was. Let's hope this thing makes a better landing... but how do you slow down something moving 29,000 mph? I guess that's why I'm not running the show.

Learn more about the Stardust Mission here. I have my hunch on what this "Oldest Material in the Solar System" will look like....

For those living in the west, it seems you might be able to see this thing coming in... read the article for details.

Remember yesterday, how I busted on the media for their prewritten story about Bush and Alito having breakfast, and Alito heading off to the hearings? As I said, it wasn't the normal liberal media bust, but a lazy media bust that time. I mean what kind of responsible media writes the story many hours before it even happens? Imagine if anything changed... would the old version be a collector's item?

Anyway, just curious if anyone found any prewritten stories today? I haven't, but I could have missed something. Either way, get the roundup of yesterday's events and what's to come from the AP via Yahoo! News here.

The article has a picture of Alito, his wife, and his sister as well. Let's Play a Game with it:

Guess What They're Doing?

leave your guess in the comments section

My guess: Ted Kennedy, got a little too worked up during one of his Bush bash rants. Seconds later a foul odor was easily detectable and the Alito family does their best to politely pretend they didn't notice.

More Alito blogging...
Outside the Beltway remarks on judicial nominees ability to decline answering certain questions.
Patterico talks about Kennedy's statements that were intended to paint Alito as racist. Plenty of bloggers are outraged, but Patterico thinks Kennedy (in a Michael Moorish way I guess) was being "slick" with the wording, to stay out of trouble.
Real Clear Politics wonders what Kennedy's comments even have to do with the matters at hand.
Wizbang wonders why Kennedy, of all people, is riding someone about something from their younger days.
Decision '08 has quotes on Alito from a few of the other usual suspects.

This is weird. I heard about it yesterday, and didn't get around to posting it at the time. But BBC News sums it up here:

A US man who threw a mouse onto a pile of burning leaves could only watch in horror as it ran into his house and set the building ablaze.

Luciano Mares, 81, of Fort Sumner, New Mexico, found the mouse in his home and wanted to get rid of it.

"I had some leaves burning outside, so I threw it in the fire, and the mouse was on fire and ran back at the house," he was quoted as saying by AP.

I blame Bush. This clearly happened as a result of his radical right agenda. I'm not sure how exactly, but I'm sure the liberals will find a way, don't they always? I'm sure it has something to do with being blood thirsty, anti-poor, racist, anti-environment, or some combination of all of those things.

Hey Rummy, I just dropped eaves on some guy in NM, and found out he's a Democrat. We got any a them flamin' mice left? Mhhhmm... How quickly can we deploy that 'lil sucker?
